Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This influences which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

The best business credit card for your LLC will reward your spending with cash back, reward points, travel perks or a combination thereof. A business credit card can also help new LLCs establish and build their business credit and finance some early purchases while developing cash flow.
Apply for an LLC credit card using your employer identification number, or EIN, to keep a clear separation between personal and business spending — which is essential for maintaining LLC protections. But be aware that almost all cards will require your Social Security number, too, since approval is based on your personal credit.
Note: Some of our selections can be applied for through NerdWallet, and some cannot. Below, you’ll find application links for the credit cards from our partners that are available through NerdWallet, followed by the full list of our picks.

Can an LLC get a business credit card?

You don’t need to be incorporated to get a business credit card. LLCs can be approved based on their operator’s personal credit history, not criteria like time in business or revenue.
When you apply, issuers will ask you to provide your Social Security number and guarantee the debt. That means that opening a business card with your LLC won’t shield you from personal responsibility. If your company can’t pay the business credit card, you’ll have to cover the bill.
Your LLC probably can’t get a business credit card with no personal guarantee, especially if it’s newly formed. Those options often require multiple years in operation, have high annual revenue requirements or are only available to corporations.

What to look for in a business credit card for your LLC

The right business credit card for your LLC will help you finance necessary purchases and offer maximal rewards on your spending. Here’s what to look for while choosing one.

Rewards that match your spending

Credit card rewards typically fall into two categories: cash back or travel points. If you travel often, a business card that offers travel rewards can quickly fund your next big trip — but these cards often come with annual fees. A cash-back business credit card could be your best choice if you want to keep expenses low, since cash-back cards with no annual fee are more common.
Within those categories, you’ll also need to choose between a card with flat-rate rewards or one with bonus tiers. Opt for a card with bonus tiers if you spend a lot in the high-reward categories, typically travel, gas stations and office supply stores, depending on the card. Otherwise, stick with a flat-rate card that doles out the same reward rate no matter where you spend.

0% intro APR periods — especially for new businesses

Some credit cards offer a 0% introductory APR period, which can serve as an alternative to a business loan for newer, smaller businesses. If you’re a new LLC facing startup expenses or have a large purchase on the horizon, you can pay off these costs over the course of the no-interest period.
Already have an outstanding balance that accumulates high interest? Transfer that debt to a balance-transfer business card to buy you time to pay it down without interest.

EIN-only application

Most business credit cards require a Social Security number and an EIN when you apply, but there are a few exceptions. Corporate cards, like Ramp and Brex, let you apply with only an EIN. However, to qualify for a corporate card, your LLC will typically need angel investment or venture funding or to be generating millions of dollars in annual revenue.

Methodology

NerdWallet's Credit Cards team selects the best credit cards for small business based on overall consumer value, as evidenced by star ratings, as well as their suitability for specific kinds of small-business operators. Factors in our evaluation include annual and other fees, rewards rates, the earning structure (for example, flat-rate rewards versus bonus categories), redemption options, bonus offers for new cardholders, introductory and ongoing APRs, and other noteworthy features such as special financing arrangements, free cards for employees or tools for managing business expenses. Learn more about how we rate business credit cards.
